These two panels of Sydney Cove are part of an eleven-section panorama of Sydney 3.25 metres long, taken from the tower of Government House by William Blackwood. Freeman Brothers had made a ten-section view from Observatory Hill a month earlier, but no known copies exist. The Sydney Morning Herald recommended Blackwood’s panorama as an aide-mémoire.
'Whether lounging in your easy chair at home, in some crowded thoroughfare, dull back street, or, what many a bushman will grumblingly declare some still duller place, in the "far lone bush", you can, by Blackwood’s Panorama, recal [sic] each well-known nook and corner without any effort whatever.'
